Unhappy Rubbing on my 300E!

Hi guys,
I just had my 300E lowered with H&R springs, Bilstein Sports in all for corners with bump 2 pads in the front and 3's the rear. I am running 16 inch 5 hole wheels from a 2000 E class with 215 55's. During high speed braking I am getting just a little rubbing. I havent taken her in for an alignment yet. I am wondering if a fresh alighnment is going to make it even worse. I am trying not to purchase a new set of tires since these are new and I got a great deal on the wheel/tire combo, and I dont have a lot of cash on hand at the moment to spend on tires. Any suggestions?
Thanks,

Sounds like a good time to get the fenders rolled...

G-Benz,
thanks for your reply I was thinking the same but doesnt that cost more than buying a new set of tires. And I still have the old set that would be worth something.....
Thanks,

Your problem does not sound like a fender rolling problem, 215s should be fine on a 124, however you are running 215/55 which are a bit tall, next set of tires get a slightly shoter set, 225/50/16 have the perfect (stock) hight for the 124.
I would think that your tires are rubbing on the fender at the point where the impact strip meets the fender (as is shown circled in my picture).
I did a write up on my suspension, you may want to take a look at it. While you are there look at the rest of the site and let me know what you think. I even have DYI on fender rolling there.

Subman,
I just checked out your website....Nice work!!!
I have another question Since the replacement cost of the tires is 100 plus/each And I have been considering 17 inch monoblock replicas from : www.thewheelexchange.com I may just sell my wheels and almost new tires for say around 600 and spend the extra on these... My ? What size tires should I run if I install 17's
Thanks again

To remedy this problem i simly took the plastic panel off and cut some "meat" away with a dremal. Or you can just let it work its way donw to the point where it does not rub anymore. I have some more updated pics of that area on my webpage if you would like to see what it will eventuly look like. My wheels no longer rub under heavy brakeing.

I personaly would run a 225/45/17 this has the correct hight, but you may run into some issues about rubbing, like I have. I do not think that your car will rubb quite as much as mine because I have 18s.
Anathor option is 215/45/17 this will work and probly will not rub at all. If I am getting new wheels and tires I would deff want to put bigger rubber on (then stock), that is why I would go with 225s. If you can try not to go any wider then 7.5 in the front (the reason I have rubbing is becuae my wheels are 8s). In the rear you can go 8.5 and possibly POSSIBLY 9 but dont count on it.
I would say 7.5 is the perfect with in the front to run a 225 tire.

offset is critical int his too.

I have carlsson 1/6 17x7.5 with an offset of 30. this is the maximum that I could go. the wheels do nto stick out, but they do sit very flush witht he fenders.

I have 225/45/17 and I only rub under hard dips. hard braking I have no rub as far as I know.
