Should i get shocks if i lower my car?

I just lowered my c240 with H+R lowering sport springs. They were lowered about 1.5 inches. Since i have the sport package on my car is it still necessary to get shocks or will my OEM McPherson shocks do the job? Thax Alot

The Sport Package includes a suspensin with firmer springs and shocks, that also lowers the car a bit. The problem is, the shocks might be firmer, but you don't know how much lower the stock ride is from the sports. If they are less then 1", I doubt the piston on the shocks are smaller (i.e. like the Bilstein Heavy Duty versus the Sports) which are the real reason to change your shocks/struts when you lower your car.

H&Rs for that car lower a stock, non-sport about 1.4" up front, 1.3" rear. Manipulating the shims, you can gain another half inch sometimes.

I would be surprised if the MB sports didn't do about 1", so I say you actually might be able to get away with not chaning them, they might just wear quicker then normal. Drive it on some valley like roads, and you be the judge.

I know Knoi makes some sport shocks for your car, that are adjustable if I am not mistaken. I would try and find out how long the piston is on the shock versus your Sports. That might be a good place to start.

Good Luck.

So basically what your trying to say is that i should drive my car the way it is for now, with the H+R and McPherson shocks, and see how it goes. But if there is alot of feel and not very tight i should upgrade to either the Koni or Bilstein shocks.
I'll try that and let you know how it goes.

In a nutshell. I didn't see Bilstein making shocks/struts for your car, which is what left me wondering. Either way, I say drive it and test it out, meanwhile do some research and see if you can just go to the parts counter at your local MB dealer and say you wondered if they had that part in stock, and you wanted to compare it to the stock shocks. Measure the length of the piston. See if there is a major difference.

Good Luck.
