Alignment question
I have a 1998 MB E300 Turbo wih 65,000. Last alignment was 15k ago. The car tracks straight, dosn't wander, no shimmy. Tires look like they are wearing evenly.... but did not rotate them in the last 15k miles. Question: if there are no apparent problems, and my judgement is to be trusted, is an alignment necessary now, or am I just throwing away $80 for perhaps a few millimeter adjustment?
Thank you......Richard

If the tires are wearing evenly and it drives properly, there is really no need for alignment. You should rotate your tires every 5,000 to 7,500 miles, but this has nothing to do with alignment.
As long as front end parts are in good shape and wheel bearings are tight and tires are wearing evenly there is absolutely no reason to have a front end alignment unless you just want to donate $80 to your local shop. A basket of fruit at Christmas would probably be more appropriate if you feel charitable. My $0.02, |
