Just put these 17x7.5" AT Italia Inox rims on this morning, wrapped in Sumitomo HTR+ 40's, tell me what you think...

I have the same color car...

lowered but, with stock rims.
You need to lower it. I like the rims but, I do not like chrome on a MB.

i appreciate the responses, and although i am an aspiring mb connoisseur, i am 16 years old and thus immersed in the automobile modification world. however, i am trying to keep the classy aspect generally associated with a car of this caliber. but once again, chrome is too appealing to my young and untrained eyes, and for now, i take homework-breaks just to go outside and gander at my car....lowering is definitely in the works as soon as the money is available....

Reminds me how I was 5 years ago, without a job and broke. Now I'm paying tuition and blowing a $H!T load off on my car.

Good Luck. Take pictures and save them, you'll really love to see how far you come in 5 years on it.

I think OEM Mercedes wheels in silver clearcoat would look best. You can get them from 14" - 18" and they make your car look newer. I prefer Monoblocks but your wheels are nice also.

Regards,

Don

Holson Adi- I put the clear corners in the day after i got it, it was in great condition and even with 219k on it, i though the $3950 price tag was more than fair.

momentum,

come to think of it, the acceleration does seem a little slower, but i wasn't sure if that was an effect of the rims or not...do you have a picture of your car? love to see it...chaser234@hotmail.com

Your stock size was 185/65-15? I think that's the factory size for that year of W124.

That tire is 621.5mm tall. (24.5")

The 235/40-17 tires are 619.8mm tall. (24.4") tall.

If they don't rub width wise, you're right on the money for height. Next mod might be to close up the wheel-well width.

As for wheel style, it's not my personal preference, but it spruces up the car nicely compared to the factory 15-hole alloy.

The slower acceleration could be from added weight of the 17" package. Most 17" alloys weigh more than the factory forged MB wheels, and the tires are heavy too.

Also, your car might not be able to use all of the added traction of the new performance tires, and that means a bogging off-line. Given that, the added cornering capability probably makes up for it.
