560 SEL cupped Front Tires

A month ago I got four Yokohama AVS bd Decibel 225/60/R15 for my 91 560 SEL. The tire were balanced DYNAMICALLY with weights on both planes. After 650 miles on the tires I started to noitce a vibration at speeds of 60-80 mph. After a check of the tires comes to find out that two front tires are cupped from the inside. The questions is what causes the tires to be cupped?
Is it 1) bad alignment (didn't have any problem with the old tires) 2) Inproper balance? or 3)upsizing from 205/65/R15 might be cause of the problem? ( Even though I checked with TireRack sales person before buying the tires and he indicated that I shouldn't have any problem with upsizing) 4) is the weight rating for the tires is below the minimum for the car ( surely not becaue a reptuable company like TireRack will not do that?)

Any thoughts on this will be great.

Cupping is caused by out of balance tires or more likely bad shocks.

I guess I am going to take the car to diffferent shop that the one that installed them and let them check the balance. I am wondering if it is the balance and I correct it will the tires eventaully lose the cupping or is the tires are shot? Thanks for the quick response!!!

Thanks

Yes, you need to recheck the balance, if the shocks are aged, replace them, and check to see that your front wheel bearings are tight.

Good luck,

At only 650 miles I don't think the cupping would be so severe that it wouldn't "wear" off after rotating the tires. Definitely have the balance checked and have the front shocks checked as has already been suggested. I don't think the size has any bearing in this case, you're running the same size I have on the 560 and I have no cupping after 7K+ miles.

I took the car yestreday and rebalanced the tires with weight on both planes 'again'. I even noticed that the back tires are starting to cup too. My front shock have only 30,000 miles on them and they appear to be fine. I am going to check the wheel bearing. I am not sure what to do after that. Could the tires be defective?

The front wheel bearing checked ok. Not sure what is the next steps. I am hoping that the vibration is a result of the current cupping and am hoping that it will go a way after I drive the car for couple hundred miles. I just have to wait and see.

Thanks
