Question 15 or 16 in wheels and tires

What advantage or disadvantage will I get if I change my 14" wheels on 380SL to 15 or 16 and which size and brand of tire would you reccommend. I am considering new wheels but just do not know about the size but would not want to go bigger than 16.

Cool

Rayson I have a 1982 500sel fitted with 16 inch centra wheels and p215-60r-16 Michelins. The size is perfect no fitt problems
and the ride is uncompromised as far as I can tell. I have posted twice asking for recommendations on tire brand and size but no good responses, I guess its a tough crowd in here (smile).
Good Luck my friend....Scooter

Rayson,
Do you know what offset your car is? I have a nice set of 16" 8 hole for sale. They have 225/60-16.

I would think that you could buy higher rated tires with 15 and 16" wheels. I have not found one V-Rated tires in 14" That's one advantage I could think of.

I like the stock bundt cake wheels but mine are so ugly that I just want to replace them. I hope ride won't be compromised so much. I'm running my tires at a high pressure right now so the ride is pretty harsh but it handles nice! hehehe...

I like the Centra wheels.. but they are hard to find and expensive! My favorite wheels for these '80s MB are the BBS RS Multipiece wheels. I just think they look amazing. My dad had them on his '82 280E with Z-Rated tires too ... :p (16")

Holson,

If you want Centra wheels check www.ronalusa.com They have the Centra in silver clearcoat for $175 each and chrome for $295 each. They really look great and that is what I am leaning toward.

I refinished my bundt wheels myself with the original Wurth paint. They were super ugly before and now they really look good but I want to change to something else like the centra maybe.
