Borbet Type S 18" x 8" ET 35mm wheels

Will Borbet Type S 18" x 8" ET 35mm wheels work on my '89 300TE wagon?
Thanks,
Kirk

Check out the ET number casted on the backside of your stock rims, you can just look at your spare. That will give you your factory offset in MM.

Thanks for your advice. Should the offset marked on my spare tire be above or below the offset of the replacement rims? Thanks again.

The new rim offset number should be less than the ET number but you might be able to go above the stock ET number by a few MM's? At least you know you need to be in the same area if you do not want to use spacers.
Hope that helps ya

Thanks Subman,
Do you think they would rub if I didn't lower my car?

Most likely but I do not think it will be as bad. They may not even rub on the boddy cladding (under brakeing). I have solved all of my rubbing problems so it can be done.

w124 chassis cars should not use a wheel width over 7.5" in the front .... they stick outside of the fender and rub when the suspension is compressed

that may be true but, the E500 has wider fenders than a standard W124

Albert,

Luke is right... 7.5" is the wider you can go without rubbing.

I have 8" wheels on both W124 and they rub while tough driving.

BTW congratulations on your "yellow" dream... it's looking better every day
