will these wheels fit my 300sd?

i'm looking to get some new wheels for my 1983 300sd (126). they currently have the 14" bundt wheels. i have found some 8-hole wheels from a 1996 sl300. they have a 5 x 112 lug pattern. the offset is 38. the wheels are 16" x 8". the tires are pilots 225/55/16. will these work with my car? thanks.

Won't fit without spacers

Your model came with wheels with a 30mm offset -- the 38mm offset may clear most things (but maybe not tie rod ends) because the rims are bigger in diameter, but the relationship between the steering axis and the centerline of the tire will be changed enough to give some strange roadfeel, since the centerline would be moved farther IN.

Aren't 126's 21mm offset?

If I'm not wrong, the 126's came with two different 15" wheels.

1. 15x6.5" ET21.5
2. 15x7" ET30

Early 126 have 14" "Bundt Cake" style rims

6" wide ET 30 on most, but 6 1/2 ET 25 on the SEL long-wheelbase series. There's a 300SD parked next to my 300TD right now with the 6 X 14 ET 30 on it for sure.

yup, just checked one of the several sets of bundt's in my cellar. 14X6 30mm offset. I, too, have been looking to go with a 16" wheel for my SD. So......If we go to 16" , the wheels is obviously going to be wider. If the offset stays at 30mm this will bring the wheel out more. The wider the wheel the higher the offset we can run???? i know the basics of wheels offsets but this gets confusing when running different wheels. Anyone out there have 16" or 15" wheels on their 126? And what is the width of the wheel and what size tire do you run?

i am about to purchase a set of 16" 8 hole wheels and tires. the wheels are 16"x8" with an offset of 38mm. the tires are Michelin Pilot XGT Z4 225/55/16 ZR. if my 1983 300sd has an offset of 30mm then i would need 8mm spacer to fit these wheels- correct? please let me know if you can give me more info. thanks.

offset??

the tires/wheels look like they can use the help of some spacers.
They seem too small for the car...esp the rear ones.

Might just be me....
