195/60/15
I kinda prefer the looks with this size as the tire is flush with the rims when viewed from the side.
With 205s, the sidewall tends to bulge out slightly from the rim due to the extra width. Gives it the "mushy" kinda look. This is just my personal opinion. Azhari 1991 190e 1.8 Singapore |

What Azhari mentions is true. The sidewall doesn't have a straight apearance to it, it has a bulge in the middle. The straight appearance definitely looks a bit more sporty but for me the extra tread and overall look at the front or rear of the car was better with the wider tires.....definitely personal preference on this.
Good luck with your choice.

brookspw,
What type of wheels do you have on the car? |

I run 205/60-15 Dunlop Sport A2's (on chrome MB 8-hole wheels) on my 190E. Suspension is all stock, and I never have any rubbing. I'm very pleased with them. They are my summer tires (my snow tires are 185/65-15 on the original 15-hole rims) and I really prefer the look of the 205s over the 185s. They look sporty, without looking rediculous.
BTW: the sidewall on a 205/60 is less than 3mm larger than the sidewall on a 185/65. Jeff Pierce

I have 205/60/15's all around with no rubbing. My spare is 185/65/15 I'm planning on replacing them with 225/50/16's in the rear and 205/55/16's in the front.
Regards, Don

For what it's worth, my daughter is running 205/50/15 Toyo Proxes on her 190E Limited Edition 2.6, which has the factory Sportline and appears lowered (it's several inches lower than my C43 AMG) -- we bought it used from a M-B dealer and the new Proxes had been put on it by the dealer.
The Limited Edition has special 8-hole Sportline wheels and is normally set up for 205/55/15, but we have not had any problems with the 50-aspect tires -- the car corners brilliantly, probably due in part to its low center of gravity.

Our stock suspension 190E 2.6 has the stock 15-hole wheels and 205/60-15 Michelin Pilot Alpin. I wanted smaller tires, but I was buying snows late in the season, and that's all they had left.
They look goofy, as the tires are too wide for the wheel width, and they bulge lots. Yuck. Here's the sizes: 185/65-15 is 621.5mm or 24.5" tall. 195/60-15 is 615mm or 24.25" tall. 195/65-15 is 634.5mm or 25.0" tall. 205/60-15 is 627mm or 24.7" tall. Since 185/65-15 is an odd-ball size, there are not many tires available. I have seen lots of 190E's with 195/65's installed without rubbing, but none of them were lowered...

195/50/15
I have seen a fair number of 190s in my area running 195/50/15 and boy, do they look mean.
The rims/tires are flushed on the sides and the overall look is "lean and mean". But I think all of them are lowered coz with 50s, you'd look pretty stupid with huge gaps between the wheels and the fenders... Btw, i've got 8 holes with 195/60/15s and i'm thinking of doing 50s... |

I know that many read only the "recent posts" and I was bringing it back to the forefront so that 190 owners would see it.
What I would love to see are pictures of cars with 195/60 and cars with 205/60.

Sorry, I don't have my 205/60's on the car now or i'd snap you a pix -- they're my summer tires. FYI, they're 6.5" wide/44mm offset, and no rubbing.
