wheel/tire fitment for w126??

Going to upgrade real soon. Wanted to know what a safe tire size would be for 16" X 7 1/2" rims on a 126? What is everyone else running on their 126????????

Personal Tastes...So many..

...I don't know what you think LQQKs good .But over on MBCoupes.com they have been talking about size,type..could be helpful to you.Just one extra comment..the prevailing thought is "NO 16in. wheels"..reason..you won't detect any visual difference...better to go with 17in....Also..The w126 is ALL they talk about.
LOL

The 380SE is running the "late W126" stock Mercedes 15 x 7 rims on 205/65-HR-15 Bridgestone Potenzas.

You've got to ask yourself if there would be a real performance increase with 17 inch rims, or if you just want the "bling-bling" factor. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, just not really functional.

I guess you're saying that VW BUGE has after market,or other than original rims..?

MY preference for tires would be simple....
WIDER the BETTER.
I'm running 235x55x15,on a 560SEL,and the same Michlen Pilots on the 560SEC.
LOL)

...go with 18's!! Only if you don't mind a firmer ride!! My rim/tire combo includes 18x8.5/ with 235-40-18 tires. The ride is alot firmer and the performance is excellent!! But, if you want comfort stick with the 15 or 16's.
Here's a pic of my car with deep dish 18's. Only my 2 cents...

Eric,

Any more pictures with a little better view of how the 18's look?

One reason I've been hesitant to go with huge wheels is the condition of the roads here in eastern Pennsylvania. I'd probably bend an 18" wheel on a speed bump or some huge pothole...yes I drive fast.

Not looking for the "bling bling" factor. Just a little better handling. 17" are out of the question. I have settled on 16". So I gues a 225/60-16 would clear everything.

Well, I was thinking of keeping the 225/60-16 from the rims I'm trying to sell. Robert, i used to live in Shnecksville. (sp?)
