400 E deep problem
 

hi guys i have a 1993 400e it came with originally 195/65/15's but today i put on 205/65/15's adn there is a lot of rubbing any suggestions that which size i should put it on

You are supposed to go to 205/60/15 not 205/65/15.

thanks i just got the right size today i mean 205/60/15 and the problrm has been solved i m thinking i sit possible for me to go 215/60/15 in this car

If your wheel are 6.5 or 7 wide which they probably are then yes you can go to 215/60/15.

If you are retaining the stock rims then go with 205/60/15 size tires front and rear. If you don't mind spending a bit extra you can pick up some 16x7.5 wheels (ask Luke or do a search for correct offset) and put some 225/50/16 size tires on there. With the proper offset and that size tire/rim you shouldn't rub but it will be a "full" fit. That size really does help the 400E deal with both its mass and power much better but 205/60/15 given a good tire is perfectly acceptable.

Our 400 has 215-60's (in the summer), no rubbing no problems, on stock rims.

I know for a fact that not all numbers are equal, and widths may not be identical even among all 215's say. We have Bridgestone 950's in the 215 size. Now we have Arctic-Alpins on, 195-65's, for the smaller footprint in the snow.

225 tires will rub in a w124 car. 215s will not. If you want the widest tire for 16" wheels try 215/55/16 unless you roll your fenders, then 225s will work. I know cause thats what I have and I have rubbing problems since I havent had my fenders rolled yet and I might not get it done if I can fit 215/55/16 tires in there without rubbing.

If you want to go 215/60R15 on your stock 6.5x15 rims, I suggest you keep the tire pressure on the high side when you do highway driving...depending on the tire, I noticed at high speeds, the sidewalls seem to have a lot of flex...making the car a little unstable/wobbly...
