I'm strongly considering purchasing a set of OZ Opera 1pc. (from Tirerack of course) for my '93 300E. I'm interested in finding out if any members have them and if so what do they think of them? Any pictures would really help. I can't get a true sense of what they would look like using the Tirerack system. What is the biggest tire I could mount on the 16" rim to give it that 17" look? (without modifications).

225/50/16 would be the largest possible. It won't give it a "17 look", but it will look big. Only do this if you have a 7.5" rim. Otherwise, stay with 205/55/16.

I've been a long time reader of this forum, but have never participated until now.
As an M-B fanatic with several late MB models and a Tire Rack's customer many times over, I've become sort of an expert on wheel/tire fitments for late MB models. Now to subject of OZ Opera's 1pc. Both OZ Opera 1pc and 2pc(expensive) look fantastic on MB, in my opinion better then AMG wheels and on par with Lorinser for less money. I have OZ Opera 1pc on several of my cars in 16", 17" & 18". There is a small difference in price between 16x7.5 ($211 @TR) and 17x8 ($289 @TR) but huge difference in how they look on MB, big enough that I would skip 16" and go for 17" - because of how spokes extend to the edge of the rim, 16" look quit small compared to 17". But if you have to stay with 16" wheel/tire combo due to money factor, I would stay with 8 hole MB replicas from Tire Rack (I think they have 2 different) because they will look bigger then 16" OZ Operas. Hope it helps. [This message has been edited by Luke@tirerack (edited 08-24-2000).] |

The Opera wheel is a very good choice for your car. Considering the cost of the wheel and the quality you get for the money it is a very good value. I would go with 16's because the 17's do not fit your '93 300e

Thank you guys. This information is helpful. Since the 16" rims come in 7.5" can I run 225s without rubbing? Are 215s an option? Again, I'm looking for the biggest tire possible but comfort and ride are just as important.
Thanks again. |

I see you edited a message by M-B Fan...I don't know why but it would help if you would indicate with caps or brackets or something when you, as moderator, edit another's message. What do you think? ------------------ Dean Albrecht 94 E500 99 ML320 www.need2speed.web.com |
