15 hole 16"x8" wheels on my '85 380sl - HELP
This is an excerpt from my post on the SL Forum.
"I've reviewed the previous posts here and it appears I can fit newer 15 hole 16"x8" wheels on my 1985 380sl (1991> SL). Has anyone done this? Which tire is ideal? The tire calculator shows 215/55 -16 as being ideal regarding speedometer accuracy with 225/55-16 being next closest. I then see posts referring to 205/60-16 or 225/50-16-------can any of you tire gurus help be choose the best tire size?" My concerns are tire rubbing and Speedometer/Odometer accuracy. The original tire is a 205/70-14 Also, I'll need to get lug bolts....would I use original spec or a 1991 or newer lugs? ANY help is appreciated. |
first off ...do you really think your speedo is accurite now ???? well, it's not .... it is about 3-5% off from the factory when new and now the car is 12 years old ....
there are three sizes that would work with 16" wheels on your car 205/55-16 225/50-16 225/55-16 hope this helps |
Thanks Luke. Any one size you'd recommend over another?

I would use the 225/55-16 size if it was my choice
