Fender rolling or cutting?
I want to have the lips of my rear fenders roled and botht he body shops I have gone to have talked about cutting off the lip rather than rolling or folding it flat. Does cutting do somethign real bad for the car like cut it where there is a seam or does it matter? I would like to rol the fenders so I can keep the wheels/tires I ahve instead of having to buy completely new ones so any insight on this would be appreciated.

I would not cut the lip off because of the added rigidity the lip creates in the wheel arch area

I would never cut the lip off the well. As Luke mentions the integrity would be compromised and you're asking for more rust problems.
The use of fender rolling machinery is real nice. The Porsche 911 guys do this procedure quite often. I've heard of using baseball bats or PVC pipe. The instrument uses the tire as a leverage point. Very basic but many have done it this way. The use of a heat gun is important in making the paint pliable. Others have used an Exacto or utility knife to control the paint crack on older or brittle paint. I would really try the heat method. Thats what I thought but I figured a body shop would know what they were doig but I guess not. Where would oyu suggest I go to get it done since your tool is not available for at least 3 months? Would normal tire place do that like a Big O or Pep oys or would I need to find a specialized store?
