Where to find chrome wheels?...

Where might I find used 15" chrome wheels for my '90 300E for a good price other than e-bay? -- Mike

See if anyone in the "Swap Shop Classified Parts" section of the forum is selling any...

btw...I have 8-hole chromies on mine, and the receipts left by the PO indicate they were an aftermarket set purchased at Discount Tire...

Be warned that there are two downsides to chroming alloy wheels. The first is that the chroming process weakens the wheel. Secondly, the chrome OFTEN peels within a year or two.

Good luck,

Another problem is that the chrome wheels will rust around the bead line where the tubeless tire seals itself. This will take a few years but it will happen and then you will start to get slow leaks and your tire repair guy will go crazy trying to figure out why the tire leaks.

And The Real Reason NOT To Chrome Plate The Mercedes Rims..
A Mercedes TSB sent to ALL Mercedes Benz Dealers That Stated NOT to plate any of the Factory OE wheels!.The TUV does NOT allow it! But greed sets in....Gotta make a Buck!

I Would Find a set of Silver wheels in good shape and send them out for a Polish...Then They Wont peel,Rust,Or cause a leak!
Try Wheel shops and The Dealer..they will have Lots of the OLD style wheels and You Might get a good price!

Exactly, and wheels that are highly polished will have a very reflective appearance - just like glass or chrome.

Take a look at the rims on the new Mercury Marauder. They look like chrome, but are really highly polished.

Globe Tire Stores in So. Calif. They are quality plating and last for years, if they are cleaned regularly. They supply many dealers with chrome wheels.I have had them on my cars for many years, and had one problem with the mentioned rust leak.
They will ship. Ed

Performance Products has a chrome wheel exchange program. You buy the wheels, send them your OEM wheels in the boxes for a refund of the core charge.
