Killing the 16"x8" SL wheel Idea for my 380SL.......

Well, I just spoke to a gentleman at Ernies Alloys. He has a reputation for knowing which wheel will fit which car...for both Mercedes and Porsche.

I posed the question to him since I really didn't get a 100% green light on using the 1990-93 16"x8",15 hole SL wheels on my 1985 380SL. Right off the top of his head he said..."NO". "The wheels will hit the tie rods in the front and they'll shake."

That was enough for me to kill my project. BTW, I have a set of 1990-93 16"x8",15 hole SL wheels fore sale or trade. lol

I'll be looking to buy (or trade for) a set of four 15 hole, 15"x7" which were used on the 1986-1989 560sl. I believe the same wheels were used on the 86-87 300sdl, 420, 560sec & 560sel. Preferably in excellent condition.

Hope this info will help someone out and thanks to Luke and other board members for advice.

Thanks!
