Replacement Tire Advice Please

The wife “brushed” a curb while parking the wagon and took out a tire. She said she did not mack the suspension.

All four Michelin Energy MXV4 tires are only six months old and have little wear. She had Roadside Assistance put on the spare Continental.

I’m assuming I’m in for a new tire and am thinking I’ll buy one matching, replacement tire. I’ll have the dealer mount and balance it.

My questions are: is this the correct thing to do, and how well will one new tire and three six month old tires work together?

Am I missing anything?

Thank you in advance.

it's not about time it's about wear ...you need to measure your tread depth .... we wear out a set of tires in a day while testing

Hmmmmm.....wear out a set of tires in a day.
Luke, I want a job wearing out tires. Got to be some mean machines to torture the tires. I'd even consider paying you.

3 Lexus IS300's and 60 guys on our test track going 6 laps each will pretty much destroy any tire

OK. So that was not the most well worded question.

The tires have about 5,000 miles on them and show MINIMAL wear. I went and saw what she "brushed" and it was part of a storm drain... a sharp lip sticking out a few inches from the curb. That would explain the gash in the side wall.

So, is one new tire the way to go???

agreed, but to be sure you may want to measure the tread depth
