450SL Tires

I recently purchased a 1980 450SL with original 14 inch rims. Current tires are 205/70 HR 14. I would like to know if anyone has any suggestions for replacement 14 inch tires, and or the advantages of going to larger rims.

Thanks,
Jim

larger wheels would give the car a more mordern/stylish look and upgrade the overall handling ..... but, in the 205/70-14 size the best tire available for your car is the Affinity LH30 from Firestone

I'm not sure if the 450SL chassis has clearance issues,

but on my 300TD, I have been happy with Michelin HR 225/60 X 14 instead of 205/70s, with the SL style 6 1/2" rims. This is definitely a more performance oriented feel and ride, though.
