Question new 16" wheels, 15" spare... OK for ANY distance?

OK, i am FINALLY upgrading to 16" wheels. bought a set of 4.
the problem: no 16" spare, only the 15" OE alloy as spare.

the question: would driving ANY distance on the 15" spare (such as to the next exit or several miles to the tire dealer) damage the car in any way?

car = 95 W202 C-280

i would prefer to get a 16" for spare, but if i thought that the 15" could be driven for MINIMAL distance, i probably will keep the 15"

any input greatly appreciated. thanks, - benton

if you plus sized correctly the overall diameter of your 16's and the spare 15 should be the same so I see no problems at all

luke, thanks for the reply.

your reply made the realize the most important issue that i had dumbly forgotten: overall tire diameter.

i did plus size with the closest match: 195/65/15 to 205/55/16

ill have to fire my other computer with tire calc to get exact dims,
if you have immediate access to the dims, please confirm them.

thanks again, - benton

PS- i have not made a firm decision on tires yet, my existing 15s are MXV4s, which i am VERY pleased with. i may call you to get some alternative (read cheaper) recommendations and pricing.
