I found it helpful to strip the paint completely off the aluminum rims. They look fine without any paint on them at all. Buy Paint Decal stripper at any auto parts store. Make sure to buy a spray can that has Methylene Chloride in it. This eats the paint right off the rims. Do not use metal when scrapping the paint off. Only use plastic scrappers, towels, or those green plastic scrubbers.


Be sure to read the precautions on the spray can as Methylene Chloride is poisonous.
