Anyone try the ContiExtremeContact tires yet?

Hi,
I need a new set of tires and really can't spend too much. Actually, three of my four tires are great, but there is one that is right near the wear bars. I probably could just replace that one, but I think I'd rather just get four new ones. The consumer reviews of the Extreme tires on TireRack seem pretty good, but I was hoping someone here could tell me what they thought of them. At $71 each, the prices seems about right (for the 205-55/16 tires that fit on my CLK wheels). I'd get Yokohama Avid Touring tires, but they don't have them in the size I need. Thanks for the help.

Alex

Test Drove

I test drove on them...I had 255/40/17 in the front (I know I'm not suppose to do it on 17x8s, but I did...) and 285/30/18s in the back (18x9s when I needed 18x9.5 at least)

But I loved them...and if they made a 285/30/18 I'd have them too.

Felt as good as the Parada Spec-2 (although I did not get to reall push the M3 cause of a lil rubbing.) I wish I did get to push these, but must say I was all teeth. Now if they only had a mileage warranty

Also, these are a night and day difference then Conti CH 95...or Avid Tourings...

good Luck.

Luke I need a tire sponsor

good all-around tire .... it does not ecell greatly in any 1 catagory but, does reasonably well in all areas of concern .... i.e. steering response, ride quality, wet grip, dry traction, etc. ( haven't tried them in snow yet)

That's hilarious. Anyway, thanks for all the comments. Looks like I'm going to get a set of these in a week or so. I'll write about what I think after I get them.

Extreme v. Touring?

What is the difference, the V v. H speed rating? I bought a set of conti touringcontact 215 55R16, with tax, balanced, mounted and lifetime road hazzard, balance and rotation for $316.00 two weeks ago. Done about 1000 mi in them so far and really like the ride and lack of noise. Also very good in the rain so far. They are not as aggressive as the Goodyear LS that came on my car, but my car isn't a race car--it is a touring car. I like the Contis.

Extremes are much more aggresive

Extremes start at the High end of Ultimare High-Performance All-Season tires...

Think pure performance with enough winter traction for sports car's needs

Conti's were ok for dry roads, but sucked in snow and ice.Got them off after 6k miles.(sold them for 350)Then tried Bridgestone Turanza's and experienced much better wet,and snow handling, but I like to try new things,so they were sold with 15k miles on them.(yep,350 ouch!).

The Goodyear F1 GS D3's are the king right now.Wet and dry they are awesome, but no good for the snow so we're running Pirellis for winter.

I'd have to say there are better alternatives than the Conti's.IMHO.
