Bought a used C280Sport that only has 16k miles on it and the previous owner for some reason had a set of Pirelli P7000SuperSport tires mounted. Realize the car has sport suspension but these tires are noisy and rough. OK around town but on interstates...forget it. Feel as though they have 50psi in them. Hate them! Been using Dunlop 8000 and W10's, which are great.
Are there any others that feel the same way? Guess I'll just autoX a lot and wear them down! If they were 15's I'd put them on my trailer...good place for them! Tobias MB 300CE, C280Sport, 190/5.0 |

No experience with the lower profile stuff, but the new P4000 Super Touring's we put on our '91 300E are extremely quiet.

P7000 (and P7000SS) are quite possibly the WORST tire one could put on a Benz. They are based on Pirelli's road rally tire. Great for streets, huh? They are loud as holy hell. They tramline like a bunch of pigs running around. They suck pretty much all around. Only tire worse than the P7000 is the P7000SS.
The P6000s are noisy, but nowhere NEAR this level. The P7000 is in a class by itself. Made several friends lives better by removing those tires are ordering them new ones. ------------------ 1988 Mercedes-Benz 260E (W124) Arctic White/Grey Debadged Euro Headlights Clear Turn Signals and 1994/1995 Taillights 16" x 7J 8-hole Michelin Pilot HX MXM 205/55WR16 1997 Mercedes-Benz E420 (W210) Pearl Black/Ash Debadged Michelin Pilot XGT Z4 P225/55ZR16 1997 Mercedes-Benz C280 (W202) Polar White/Parchment Michelin Pilot SX-GT 205/60VR15 |

my P-zeros are very noisey. it is noticable when coasting, comming to a stop prior to braking. when it is time to change, ill look at the pilot sports. they probably wear better too.

I think the words used in the above post "Noisier than Holy Hell" are an understatement. These are the noisiest tires I had ever owned. I have driven 5 ton trucks with mud lug tires that were heavenly quiet by comparison.
Do yourself a favor (as I did)turn off the ASR, put on a big "Death to the Noisy rubber" smokeshow (AKA bigtime brakestand) and drive to the nearest reputable tireshop and get rid of them. |

I hated the P7000 NoiseySport! It became more noisey as they wore and they wore uneven and very quickly. They had terrible, unpredictable, skiddish handling to the point of feeling unsafe & unstable when driving hard and fast. Also as far as being all-season, forget it, it was terrible in bad weather. I am so surprised that Pirelli makes such a difficult noisey tire.
This one has been bashed before here. P6000s suck...I chose to remove them from my 500E and retain them for melting on autocross courses (ASR disabled of course)

I have the P4000 on my SL and they are quiet as one of the previous posts noted. I'm using the SP8000 on my 2.3-16 and they are also quiet. No noise from the MXV4 I use on our diesel sedan.

Then only way to make a P7000 SS quiet is to use it for a tire swing but, then the kids get noisey so I guess they are always noisey.

My dealer suggested that tire in 225/45/17 to replace my BF Goodrich Comp T/A's that always seemed to wear out. My car is 1994 E320 cabriolet with AMG monoblocks. That P7000 supersport was noisey from Day One and was a terrible suggestion. Plus, even though they knew it was a summer time car, they sold me the performance all season tire version. Idiots!! I didn't know better. Now I do -- Michelin Pilot Sport!!

How many km did you get from your BF's ? I have the same tire (except 235/45-17) and they were guaranteed from the manufacturer to last for 60,000 km.
So far I am very happy with these tires (I previously had the godawful Pirelli P7000SS) They only thing I noticed is that they seem to be tough to balance properly. |

Comp T/A's lasted less than 36,000km

4000s on my 560 SL seem noisy to me, but have no point of comparison....
Will replace them soon with MXV4s, and hope for improvement. ------------------ Tom '87 560 SL |
