I currently own a '99 C280 but not a sports model. The tiresize currently is 205/60 R15. I am thinking of upgrade to the 205/55 R16, will there be any sideeffects to the speedometer or any other things? Oh ya, and where can I find the sports rim that are equipped on the sports model? Also..which tires are good? I am looking for high performance tires that has low road noise and good dry/wet traction. Any other suggestions are welcome

In all honesty, you could accomplish almost as much by just staying with 15 inchers and getting a set of Michelin Pilot SX-GTs in 205/60VR15. I have this setup on my C280, and it is incredible.

Thanks for your help, I would take that into consideration. However, if I go for 17 inches tires, what size should I go for so that the overall diameters for the tires are the same or very close to the OE diameters?

225/45-17 would be a good choice in the front and, for a true "sport package" try the 245/40-17 in the rear.
Thanks, Luke

Thanks Luke, anything else needs to be tuned (like suspension or spring) for the 17-inches tires?

It all depends on how much you want to spend and how much you want to gain. If you are really on a budget, I would get 16" wheels and 225/50/16 and leave it at that. If you really want to get close to the AMG side, I'd get 17" staggered set-up with a tuned suspension (maybe Eibach and KYBs/Blisten.) If you want 16" lemme know, I have the 16x7 ET 37 7-spoke SLK rims. You could even do them in a staggered setup cause I have the 16x8 for them. I really don't see the point though. Good Luck.
