I have Proxes H4's on my car. I've put maybe 5000 miles on them so far. They are ok, but I wouldn't rave about them. I have enough loose stuff in my suspension that I don't push it real hard, but they do squeal a bit too soon around corners and on braking if there are any bumps whatsoever. Grip is pretty good, but after getting them put on, my car didn't feel "transformed" the way a really good set of tires can. Hope this helps,

Well the w126 had different tire sizes standard different years. Post back your year and model, and I'll give u my 2 cents on which combo I think would work best.

I have a 1989 UK 300se, and at the moment I have some rubbish avon tires.
I want to get some good tires to give me a nice smooth ride and help traction in the wet. I want to go slightly wider if possible. Please can somebody tell me what model I need to go for and the sizes I should ask for. I get a bit confused with all the different numbers and what they mean! Many Thanks Oliver |

I have had Bridgestone Potenza RE930's on a couple Japanese cars (1990 Acura Integra, 1995 Subaru Legacy) I've owned and they are excellent tires, and relatively inexpensive. Not sure how they'd work on a bigger car like the W126.

I have had very good experience with Michelin tires, and frankly would not put another brand on my MB.
1991 4-matic wagon: MXV4 Energy: nice and quiet. 1985 300D: MX4 Rainforce: Very satisfactory. 1984 300SD: MX4 Rainforce: Very satisfactory. Buy Michelins and buy them in the size recommended by MB. I have heard less than glowing reports about the Michelin X-One, however. |
