400E Stock Rims
Hi everyone, I had a flat a few weeks ago and the dealer said that my rim was cutting into my tire.
I don't know how true it is because I replaced the tire and used the rim from the spare and still got a flat this week. Anyway, I was wondering where I could find a stock rim for a 400E, tirerack didn't seem to have one. Thanks. Vijay |

1st- if you really need a wheel, start looking at your local MB indy or high-end tire/wheel shop. always wheels on ebay, but not as many singles as sets.
if its the typical 8-slot wheel, luke at tirerack.com (see top of page) can get you a "AT" replica very reasonable for either single or set. BUT- i question if you really need a new wheel. what did the dealer say was exactly wrong with your existing wheel? did you run over anything or hit a curb or other obstacle? also, if your spare "matches", whats wrong with it? if its good, you can use a less attractive wheel for the spare for emergencies. is it the 8-slot wheel? painted or machined finish? |

I really did question if I NEEDED a new wheel. So I went to a local wheel place and they said they could fix it. But it would cost 160 dollars! I called the a few places and the cheapest place I could find was 240. I went ahead and am getting the wheel fixed.
I know it's only an extra 80 bucks for a new wheel but I rarely drive this car anymore, it's more of my winter car now so I won't even drive more then 6K miles a year. What happened is that my wife had been driving the car and wasn't paying attention because she was looking at someone's new garden and ran into a big rock and tore the tire and chipped the wheel a little. |

On the subject of the 400E wheels . . . can you tell me what the offset is on the stock 15" rim? Thanks

I"m not sure if I understand the question...but the rim is chipped in a corner... I"ll be getting it back in a few days, I'll tell you how it goes.

On the inside of the rim, along with the rim width (6.5, 7, etc.), diameter (15), lip shape (J) and tire capability (H2), will be an ET (German abbreviation for offset) measurement. I was curious what the offset was for the OEM rim. Also, what year 400E is it? Thanks.

Call Ernie's Alloys in Miami FL. He has everything, I bought a set of 16s for my 400E from him for $600 shipped.
