Hello:

I want to get a set of chrome plated wheels for my '87 560SEL, and I've found someone selling a set of them. But he has a '89 560SEL, and was told the offset does not match his car, and he'll need spacers to install them on his car. So my questions are two fold:

1. Are the '87 and '89 wheels identical? (therefore I would have the same issues with the offset), and
2. what are the consequences of using spacers?

Sometime between 88 and 90 the general W126 wheel spec went from 7x15 with 25mm offset to 6.5x15 with 21.5mm offset with no change in tire size (205/65-15). I don't know if this included the 560SEL.
