I have done extensive research on TireRack.com but it seems survey results mostly concentrate on 4-season tires.

I live in Costa Rica and its pure tropical climate here (72°F degrees and a lot of rain all year round), so I do not need 4-season capability.

My V140 (1998, S 500 L) needs a new set of tires and I would like to buy the BEST tire brand that will mostly fit the following criteria:

1/- Very durable thread and strong sidewalls (roads here are worse than in Manhattan, potholes everywhere).
2/- Soft ride comfort with good handling characteristics.
3/- Good hydro resistance.
4/- Low Noise.
5/- Not too expensive.

My E 320 T wagon has Pirelli's P6000s and I like them a lot, although they wear out very fast.

The S 500 L has the original factory fitted set of Continental tires, which I am not to crazy about.

Any suggestions??? I will be importing the tires from the U.S.
