W210 1999 E430 Tire Pressure

I will put my snow tires 215/55R16 on my car this weekend. What is the OEM tire pressure for this size? I have the sport version, therefore my fuel door only has the data for 235/45R17.

Thanks

Same Pressure

Nothing changes. In a previous post, Luke confirmed that the recommended tire pressure does not change with tire size. I suppose I should add that, in the old days, we did let some air out of our tires on very snowy days. I’m not sure it really did any good, but we were convinced it helped us when we would go out sliding around for fun pitching and crossing our cars in the snow.

By the way, what is the recommended pressure for your OEM set-up?

Luke's performance ideas

Hello Luke,

That is interesting that Mercedes increased the tire pressure for the “W210 Sport” with bigger rims and wider low profile tires, compared to the W124s. That seems to contradict the idea of not increasing pressure for larger rims and wider low profile tires. Does the regular W210 with the 16” wheels also specify 32 front and 33 rear? Do you think Mercedes changed it to get a little better performance? The W210 and W124 are not so different that they should require different tire pressures, unless they were just trying to change the ride characteristics with a firmer tire pressure. I remember that you like to use a couple of extra pounds to get the best performance possible.

they do not weigh the same and the 'sport package' cars are tuned for better handling thus the increase in tire pressure
