tire size question

i've done a search but it may be too simple a question.

my tire size is 175/14................

so...
175 is the width
14 is the diameter of the wheel
what is the height of the tire....am i missing another number here?

The most commonly used modern replacement size is 195/70/14. Some people prefer 205/70/14 which is a little wider. Some people use 195/75/14 which is a more common size and therefore a little cheaper. Any of these sizes will work, however you would want to make sure all 4 are the same size.

The 75 is the profile percentage in comparison to the width. The lower the number, the lower the profile of the tire.

I just bought a couple 205s mainly because they are 3% larger in circumference than the 195s, free gear ratio change.

This calculator will help you see the differences in sizes if you plan on changing sizes.

TIRE SIZE

I BELEAVE THAT YOUR CAR IS A 240 RIGHT?
IF SO IT LIKELY CAME WITH 175X14 SIZE TIRES. THERE SHOULD BE A TAG SOME WHERE ON YOUR CAR THAT HAS THE SIZE IT CAME WITH. I THINK IT IS ON THE FUEL DOOR FLAP BUT NOT POSITVE.
I WOULD NOT GO WITH A LARGER SIZE AS THAT WILL ONLY MAKE SLOWER THAN IT ALREADY IS.

A tire size change like that won't really make the car go slower but it will throw off the speedometer a little and in reality you'll be going a little faster than what the speedometer is showing. I had a truck with oversized tires that caused a 10% error in speed and by the time I sold it, it had about 10% more miles on it than the odometer actually showed. That can make a good difference if you put more than 100,000 miles on a car.
