I'm just repeating what Mercedes-Benz say in their very own Mercedes-Benz and AMG Light Alloy Wheels brochure. The AMG cars and cars with the AMG wheel package ex-works all have the body mods carried out at the factory. Post 06/98 cars don't need it, presumably because by 1998 these larger wheel sizes were becoming more common.

Very, very, VERY nice Bruce! They are my close second choice over the Monoblocks. When we will see a pic of them on your car? (With tires on of course )

Hopefully the wheels will be on the SL by this weekend. I have to purchase new tires, since these are 17". I'm going with the Yocahoma AVS db S2. BTW, I have my 8 hole wheels (16") with Conti Touring Tires (only 4900 miles on them - just about brand new) for sale. If anyone is interested email me at: bbhat@aol.com

Thanks, Pics to follow

Hey Bruce,

They have entirely changed the look of your car. What a difference!

Now - the important question: how have you found the ride on these 17"? Big change in ride comfort, or not? Sharper handling?

Spill the beans... I'm still teetering on the edge of getting some new rims, so this will really help.

Ken, Both the ride and handling improved. I also like the Conti Extreme Contact tires. The ride is better all around. I'm very pleased with the look and feel of the SL. But, this is only from driving with the new goodies for about two hours. A full opinion will be posted after I 've driven on them for a couple of weeks. NOW I just can't wait for Spring to come, oh boy....
