'03 18x9 AMG E55 wheel - What's it worth???

A friend of mine curbed the rear wheel on his '03 AMG E55 (not too bad - only about 2" on the very outer edge). There's also a "ding" (rock induced?) about 1/4" and another smaller, almost unnoticable "mark" of about 1/16" - 1/8". The wheel size is 18 x 9 ET 37 and is otherweise in excellent shape. He assures me that it's straight and true. He's the kind of guy that won't tolerate anything less than perfection, so he replaced the wheel to the tune of $835 (he showed me the invoice). He was told that the original manufacturer no longer produces this wheel and Mercedes had to go with another, more expensive manufacturer? Has anyone heard this also? Anyway, does anyone have any idea what this wheel is worth? He wants me to put it on Ebay for him and I don't really know what to ask for it. I'm thinking around $350 - $450, but not sure. Any input is appreciated.

There is probably a very limited market for this one, single wheel.
As far as repair, I'm guessing a good wheel repair shop would charge somewhere around $ 150.00 to repair it.
So, given the initial cost, cost of repair & limited demand, it may be a tough sell.

manny...

I appreciate your response and I agree with you about it being a "tough sell". He wants to sell the wheel "as is" without repairing it. Do you have an idea what $$$ I should list it for on Ebay? There may be someone out there looking for just one wheel. Thanks, Bill

E55 Wheel

Bill,
I'm interested in that rear wheel....possibly as a spare.
If you/your friend are willing to sell it for a reasonable/ respectable price considering the condition of it VS. new/refurbished and would like to do it quick and easy with out all the hoopla of (yuK) Ebay....then please hit me at

I think your friend got hosed by his dealer ... we sell the exact same wheel for $469.00 .... you would be lucky to get $100.00 - $150.00 out of that wheel

and AMG did not change wheel suppliers they changed the finish that they use ..... no longer silver with a machined lip they are currently brilliant silver with no machined lip
