Proper Balancing?
Hello,
Any and all input is appreciated. I recently purchased a new set of tires for my C-43. I've had it back twice to the delaer for proper balancing but he can't seem to get it right. These tires are properly sized Bridgestone RE 750, which has had excellent feedback from many many owners. My question is whether he has the proper machine to balance them correctly or are they defective? Regards, Richard |

I am assuming that you have a vibration problem. I will respond as if my assumption is correct.
First of all imbalance is NOT the only thing that can cause tire vibraiton. If a tire has excessive road force variation (a stiff spot) a regular balancer cannot determine this. The only machine I know of is the Hunter GSP9700. It has a roller tha measures pressur of that tire as tire turns. That said, even a GSP9700 must be used by a competent operator. Regardless of what machine is used, the wheels for your car MUST be DYNAMICALLY balanced. If there are not balance weights on both then inboard AND outboard plane then they are being static balanced NOT dynamically balanced. There are too many tire stores that want to static balance because it prevents complaints from customers about scratching the outer lip of their wheels. If you don't want to scratch the wheels you can use tape weights just behind the spokes to balance the outer plane. Good luck, |

Thanks
Hi Larry,
Thanks for the info. I'll let you know how this turns out. I especially appreciate the dynamic balancing information. Regards, Richard |
