Question Tires for 95 E320 Wagon

What would you recommend as a "best Buy" tires for 95 E 320 Wagon w/ OE 15" wheels. I live in the South so very little snow if any in Tennessee. I like a quiet smooth ride and performance. It requires H rating. Cant afford Michelins at 400.00 plus

Thanks

go to tirerack.com

I would really recommend going to Tire Rack's website and plugging in your preferences then you can see their recommendations. There are user reviews of the tires and you can rank them by price if that is an issue.

I just swapped my wheels out for 16" that came with Continental Contitouring tires. I'm pretty happy with them but I have heard they wear out pretty quickly. I have my eye on the Continental Contiextreme next for my next set. I had the Pirelli P6000 on my OEM 15" wheels. They were OK. Not all too excited about them. I found them to be rather noisey and the noise over bumps tended to resonate inside the wagon. I always assumed it was due to being a wagon but after swapping out the wheels/tires, it's not as noisey now.

Turanza LS-H would be the number 1 choice

Question LS-V vs. LS-H and rubbing with 225/50/16

Luke,

If I want to try the Bridgestone Turanza in the 225/50/16 size, do I have to get LS-V? At the Tirerack website, it doesn’t show an H-rated version in the larger size.

I think I would prefer the H-rated version, because I think the V-rated tire may be noisier and less comfortable than the H-rated. Am I wrong about differences between H-rated and V-rated tires?

Do you think the 225/50/16 will rub on my 1995 E320 that has 16" x 7.5" ET37 AMG wheels?

I've had good luck with Bridgestone G009 and BFGoodrich Traction TA's on a 94 E420. But I was running 225/60/15(if I remember correctly.)

Now I too have a 95 wagon thats due for tires. Those LS-H's look like an interesting option. I think I'm gonna move my wagon from the 195/65/15 to the 225/60/15. 30lbs per tire is a LOT though!

The Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S' look pretty good from what I can see.

Whats up with the Turanza with Serenity? why aren't those available?

I have Pilot Exalto's on my '92 300E Sportline. I have also had good success with Dunlop 5000's, but the question is for '95 Wagon.

I have the Turanza LS-H's on my S320. They are a very nice tire. Not rock bottom cheapest, but worth the price.

AtlBenz,

I believe TireRack recommends the widest tire for our stock wheels to be 215/60-15, as the 225 may rub.

I use 215/60-15 in the summer, then back down to 205/60-15 for winter tires (on separate wheels) for our TE.

Luke's recommendation is fine relation between price : performance. I'll likely do the same for the next set of summers.

Regards,
Bob

update on 95 E320

Since my last post, I have tried the Avon M500 and now running on Pirelli PZero Nero M&S, both in 225/50 16. The Avons were good but only lasted 10k miles. Not very long. I am now using the Pirellis and like them a lot. So far 5k miles and still a lot of tread, so a good sign.

You may be right. The 420 is in the shop it was rear-ended....and actually I go the news today they are going to total it. Anyway thats the car with the larger tire, I just couldn't remember if it was 225 or 215. In any case from everything I've read the 215/60/15 Turanza LS-H's are prolly gonna be my next tire. But I gotta ask again, where are the Turanza w/ Serenity?
