I am getting conflicting information from two different dealerships on which fuel cap is correct for W210 turbodiesels. I compared the fuel cap on my 1999 E300d to another (1998) E300d this weekend and found the caps are different.

• The 1998 car has a fuel cap with P/N 140 470 00 05 (no tether, no rotating collar).
  
• My 1999 car has a different cap with P/N 140 470 03 05 (rotating collar, rubber tether line).
  
• Just for comparison, our 2002 E320 wagon has P/N 215 470 01 05 (rotating collar, rubber tether line). This fuel cap looks virtually identical to the cap on my 1999 car.

I went to the dealer yesterday and they insist the 1998 car already has the correct fuel cap (no tether, no rotating collar) and my 1999 car has the wrong fuel cap.

Can anybody help ID these various caps?
