I have replaced several glow plugs since then but do not feel it has been exccesive. But, the winters are not cold where I am in CA.

I am still pleased with my system, sometimes its a little hard to explain if someone borrows the car but that doesn't happen often. The only thing I will do different on the next one, is use a solenoid rated for "continuous" service. Someone mentioned that might be a better choice than just a starter solenoid.
