Hahaaaa! Yes,it is an old thread, but at least it's a good one.
I bought my 1989 300E a few months ago for $1,500 U.S. and it currently has around 215K miles on the clock. I'm very happy with it so far! In fact I LOVE this car!
I'll get pics up soon as I never remember to take any, besides it needs a good post winter detailing job first. People where I work don't believe that I only paid $1,500 for it because it hides it's age very well and looks very good overall. It's classic white with dark red leather,a very uh..."proper motor car" as they say.
I have slowly been trying to bring it up to snuff maintenance wise with new 215/60/15 Kuhmo tires, new muffler etc. It still needs a few things such as an antenna mast, window switch repair,tune-up etc. but I'm working on it.
Some very good friends of mine have always had Mercedes and now after owning this iconic 300E I can really see the appeal. I love driving a car that was built with state of the art safety equipment(@ the time) and a "no expenses spared" attitude.
Our daughter is graduating H.S. soon and I may have to find her a nice little 190E as a gift.
