Current 2009 Selling Prices Here to Stay?

I am curious to know what others think & know (although who really knows...), , ,

(Private Party used) Cars are not selling, but I am really surprised to see so many Mercedes simply not selling - even when people are willing to drop & compromise on selling price - still not selling...
- ARE THESE EARLIER MODEL MBZs (80s - mid 90s, especially) PERMANENTLY REDUCED IN VALUE?

- ARE BUYERS SIMPLY NOT WILLING TO PAY FOR THE VALUE IN THESE CARS (Maint. and Work done to them at large expenses) ANYMORE?

- WILL THE MARKET (*sales value/selling prices) EVER REALLY BE AS STRONG AS IT WAS +1 YEAR AGO (for legacy model MERCEDES)?

I have been to a few regional MBZ dealerships recently - they ARE selling new & pre owned Mercedes. I have had two GMs tell me that they are sometimes "ashamed" to admit that things are still pretty good for them (but selling at what cost/rebates...?).
But what about our cars / you know - the really good legacy models, the ones people are not financing anymore... what can we expect in the future?

Any cogetation on this?
