If your head is warped you will want to have it straightened and then surfaces to make it as clean as possilbe. If warped you cannot just mill the mating surface flat and leave the top humped up because of the cam towers and such needing a true surface to mate to.

There is a specified minimum thickness. If you don't know what it is call Mike at Metric Motors. He will help and stocks small parts that are essential to a proper head job (no pun intended).
