has nothing to do with the headgasket.
ideally you need an air compressor... an attachment that screws into the cylinder...and the correct spring compressor...
i never had the correct spring compressor....and never got a set of seals on the cylinder next to the firewall... the next time i do this.... it will be with the correct spring compressor.
do a search.... you should find the answers
oh..and some magnetic hands to catch some pieces on the spring....
there are pictures out there....
i am sure a pro could do it in two hours.... i do it painstakingly..and it took me about 5... and that was doing 10 or 11 seals...not all 12
