If you step back and look at it (the opportunity, not the car itself) from a distance, I think you have to say to yourself that this is an older car and there will be maintenance issues. Rubber and plastic deteriorate over time and things wear out. You can try to identify what the common maintenance issues will be and try to get more specific based on the service records. This is a smart thing to do.

Having said that, if you like to fix things and like this particular SD, finding one that has been well maintained and without rust for $1,000 is a rare opportunity. If it was me and I liked the car, and it has been serviced as you say, I would not hesitate to buy it, keep it running, fix stuff as needed and enjoy it.
