I say 50/50
- maybe he saw that the linkage was 'advanced' a bit and didn't care.
- Maybe he (like every other OM616 owner) knew that it would start quicker if he added fuel.
- Maybe it surprised him and he got lucky when he pulled the linkage the correct direction in an effort to slow the motor,
maybe he was that much of an OM616 wizard and it was intuitive...
something else every 240D owner knows - you can slow the idle/kill the motor by manhandling the lever in the closed direction.

We need to invite this dude to the forum and ask him (these earth-shattering questions directly
