They're taking on a company that's been around over 100 years, and one that's not likely to go belly-up any time soon. Tesla's achieved critical mass because they got going early. But, the other electric vehicle companies (Fisker, Nicola, Lordstown, etc.) probably won't be around long once the big boys get in the electric car business.
