By the way, remember that those vents only open with cold air and are not designed to operate with the heat on. Make sure the actuator is in fact bad before you go to the trouble to replace it. Good luck.

PS. I'm afraid you're right. The center vent is controlled by the pod that's way up there. I believe it's pink plastic. It's actually not as bad as it seems it's just that you have to do a lot of the repair by feel.
