Jay,
The only lowering experience I have got is with Bilstein/Eibach.
My former 190D was lowered about 6cm in front & 4cm in rear with Eibach springs and the #1 pads (8mm). I did not change my shocks back then and the handling of the car was suburb. I drove about 200k km with that car and needed new tires (195-50/15) every 50k km. The ride however was not as smooth as it was original, but was not entirely rough either.
My current C-class is lowered approx. 5cm in front & 3cm in rear with Bilstein springs (Eibach is still printed on the springs as well), the #1 pads (8mm) and with Koni adjustable shocks. I have driven this car for 225k km now and since I have changed the shocks the handling is improved a lot (before the shock-change the handling was not nearly as good as with my former 190).
I need new tires (215-45/17) every 50-60k km.
Bottom line is that I am quiet happy with the Eibachs and the ride doesn't get that rough...
greetingz,
