I have the machine polished W202 wheels from my wife's 1998 C230 running on my 87 300E. The offset is different, and they 'stick out' from the hub about an extra 1/2 - 3/4" on each side, but still are within the fender line. (see the web site at http://toy4two.home.mindspring.com/offset.html to determine the exact change in how they fit - I believe the E wheels ar 49 offset, and the C wheels are 36, if I recall. You get a wider track than stock,

I installed them because I was tired of cleaning the 15 hole stock wheels, and she took my wheel budget and bougt 16" C sport rims for her car. They look a lot better than I thought they would, and I am going to keep them on instead of buying new wheels. If your friend is interested in pretty clean stock E wheels, have him contact me.

A pic of the E with the C rims are in my signature link, below. If you need a better pic, I can email one to you.
