Older Diesel Inspection...and that moment of terror..

I see all the new sophisticated equipment they are wheeling into inspection stations these days and sometimes I get nervous- will there be a day my 85 300D will come out with a Red Sticker " Rejected".

Or am I just having a bad day?
My Gas Volvo failed this week, but I went home changed the oil (yes this is a legit trick), the idle speed and put in a new fuel pump and I passed half an hour ago..
Will there be day that my 300D fuel pump finally shows too much wear and tear and sticks too much NOx into the air?

I have resolved myself to get smarter about Diesel Emissions and to try to put up a FAQ for helping older BENZ owners to pass inspection..or is this unnecessary--I am sure there is someone out there smarter than me who knows if this necessary...
