If the source I read recently was correct, Mr. Diesel and his co-engineers almost died when they tried running the first engine on coal dust - it exploded and nearly killed them all. That is why they changed to peanut oil - it was a less volatile fuel and posed less of a death-by-explosion risk.

The term global warming is not an accurate description of what is happening to our environment. Climate Shift is more accurate - the changes that are happening at an alarming rate affect various areas of the earth in different ways - not just warmer everywhere.

Lightbulb Calculate your MB's carbon footprint...

Here's an interesting online calculator:

http://www.climatecrisis.net/takeaction/carboncalculator/

You can enter your car's year, model, number, and how many miles you drive per year - and thus determine how many tons of carbon it is emitting into the atmosphere per year. At 10,000 miles/year, my '91 350SD alone is emitting 4.8 tons of carbon - the average person contributes 7.5 tons of carbon per year including their automobile output. When I add in my electric bill, gas bill, travel, etc. my carbon output is 9.5 tons - far more than the average person. Fortunately by burning WVO, I am in a carbon neutral closed loop - the carbon I am emitting into the environment is coming from a renewable source, therefore it is not excess carbon in the environment like carbon from fossil fuels (i.e. diesel fuel or gasoline) that are non-renewable because it was sequestered in the earth millions of years ago and is not being replaced at the same rate it is being removed.

U could use a fan in the fuel line to pump the coal dust into the Ip? HAWHAWHAW just kidding guys. lol. I just started this thread because I was curious. In my mind, we drive these cars to be different. i mean how many times do you see a 23 year old diesel car that is loved as much as the guys on here love their rides, myself included. I was just wanting to see if anyone has ever burned atf as a fuel. We drive different cars, with different kinda of engines, wouldnt it be interesting to be able to run on a fuel source that is thought of as garbage. Like the WVO guys do. U ever told someone that your car runs on old cooking oil? their mouth will drop.

Fun fuels for Bosch inline pumps

Major asteroid impact....now that is global warming/climate change...global cooling and all kinds of nasty global things.....
The Weather Channel has not yet figured out how to present this ....
But it has been suggested... The burning of ATF, motor oil, and other poisons in old diesel engines by the unconcerned owners of the vehicles in only the United States....
"Has been linked to what brings the Asteroids in".......

Yea it'll burn just fine. So will used engine oil, hydraulic oil, power steering fluid, veg oil and other oils. will it over time cause more problems than straight diesel? Most likely. How much and how soon are the real questions. By those that actually burn those aforementioned "fuels"- not much. By those that don't- usually they say alot; which is why they don't burn them. No real hard proof exists on either side.

Well.......

Considering that when I am playing saxophone I am breathing quite a bit deeper than the average person and therefore moving a larger amount of air than average (including CO2) I would say that I, as a saxophone-playing human being, have a higher carbon output than the average non-saxophone-playing human being. However, I am also in a carbon neutral closed loop because any carbon I emit through my horn was inhaled from the surrounding environment - not drilled out of the ground. I am also a vegetarian of 13 years - that also helps contribute to lower greenhouse gas emissions (cows belching and farting methane - the second highest greenhouse gas pollutant behind carbon dioxide.)

Also - thanks for checking out my website and my tunes!

Too bad you aren't down this way. We would want you to play at GTG's. The coolness factor of a sax is very high.......

True - but humans don't have like 7 stomachs and we don't fart or belch methane 24 hours a day - at least the majority of us don't!
