Biodiesel processor help needed
I bought a Biodiesel processor over six months ago and now is the time to use it, but I can't figure out the purpose of one of the copper tube with half plastic.
The tube that is on the right side that comes out from top of heater... http://i1234.photobucket.com/albums/...DB7C926A4A.jpg Close up... (Also, there is thread by the valve too, as if for the water hose) http://i1234.photobucket.com/albums/...DB858CF404.jpg Copper goes all the way through on the inside. There is also thread on the plastic side as if a hose is to be screwed on http://i1234.photobucket.com/albums/...DB98F05C26.jpg Rest of the process I understood. Here are more pictures to show you the condition of the system. http://i1234.photobucket.com/albums/...DBC30A5B6F.jpg http://i1234.photobucket.com/albums/...DBCC1DFB9A.jpg http://i1234.photobucket.com/albums/...DBE372CED2.jpg http://i1234.photobucket.com/albums/...DBB7859640.jpg http://i1234.photobucket.com/albums/...DBAD15258F.jpg Here is where Biodiesel sits, but what is that hose on the inside? http://i1234.photobucket.com/albums/...DBA3CECD56.jpg |
That is a GL Processor

that pipe within a plastic (pvc) is a condenser usually used to remove moisture before processing and to recover some of the methanol after processing. Go to biodiesel info pop as mentioned above and read ALL of Graham Lamings writings,to get a good understanding of the ins and outs of making real bio-diesel. Your engine will love it.

The copper pipe is for methanol recovery after processing
By flowing cold water through the plastic pipe connections with the processor pump running after the batch is finished the leftover methanol vapours will condense and you can drain off the condensed methanol and reuse for the next batch. The pipe inside the barrel is a standpipe , when the processed batch is pumped into the barrel the level of the bio will be higher than the pipe , you can open the valve connected to the pipe and bio will come out leaving the glycerol to come out the valve connected to the bottom plug. this is because the glycerol is more dense than the bio. Biodiesel infopop is a great resource for newbies much better than Journey to forever. Cheers Dan

Looks like an 'Appleseed' thats been modded into a 'GL' processor...
That tube arrangement is the Condenser for meth recovery and somewhere on there will be the Venturi to drive it.... Lots of information on-- vegetableoildiesel.co.uk - Powered by XMB 1.9.11 |
Thank you everyone! I will check those out. :)
