I tested some genuine Mercedes fuel line (the lates stuff from dealer) in a jar of Blue Sun B100 for ~6 months and it had no swelling or other sign of decomposition. The stuff from Checker, Napa, etc. does seem to have problems with BD though.

Matters which "move" you mean.
. If the "move" is a smooth "move" your probably ok.
. If your bowls "move" your in a stinky mess.

Instead of WVO, can oils with animal fats or seed oils be used? I have found one restaurant owner very eager to let me have his oil. He mentioned though that he uses beef fat and sesame oil so he can get more use out of it. He doesn't use veggie oil simply since it goes bad too quickly.

Sure, most waste grease contains some amount of animal fats/renderings.

The WVO I make my pittance of biodiesel from is heavily chicken fat laden.

Buffalo Oil

If you use high Fat oils (animal and fish for example) as fuel (not converted to biodiesel) you have to heat it more to reduce the viscocity. One dude made a trip across australia in converted Tour bus/motorhome powerd by waste oil and diesel. He found the BEST fuel he got on the trip was Buffalo Fat.

WOW, I forgot about this thread. I posted this while I was still looking around and soaking up knowledge before I bought my diesel. As I look back I'm still enjoying the fuel line arguments.

I have a fuel line heater kit that circulates coolant around a section of fuel line.
I have yet to install it. I have a feeling it would help with viscosity problems.

One thing I didn't mention is that when animal fats are used, the gel temp is higher (that boes for SVO or Biodiesel) and there seems to be a very high percentage of free fatty acids (probably because of the temps used.)

Regarding the coked injectors - would diesel purge take care of this?

A fascinating test would be to remove the injectors, verify that they are indeed coked, run a diesel purge, and then take the injectors out and look at them.

Anybody done that...? What did you see?

What is coking? It's had me concerned even before considering waste oil. Does it affect the combustion chamber or the prechamber?

The same member of this forum who made the trip around Oz in a "Big Fat Merc Bus" (Google that if you like, for many posts of the journey) has 2 300TDs, one has covered >500 000km and has not reported problems running for much of that time on SOLID Grease. I believe that there is a greater energy density in solid oils than in petroleum diesel or liquid oils.

Abuse of the oil is the responsibility of the cook. If you get a cook who abuses is oil, it diesn't matter what oil he uses, he WILL abuse it. If you get a cook who looks after his oil, he will look after whatever oil he prefers to use.
In short, you get good oil, you get poor oil.
Look for the good oil. (Liquid OR solid - if you can use solid)

Well I spoke to soon about no ill effects from the B20....my rubber line back by the tank on the drivers side started seeping fuel yesterday...enough to make a 4 foot spot on the cement driveway yesterday....guess what I have to fix tonight.....the injector return lines were weeping when I bought the car....a little not a lot....I'll use regular stuff to fix the line under the car tonight.....and order some Vitron so I am ready to rock and roll if I get to processing m own BD this summer.

But to be fair those lines under the car are likely to be factory originals so 22 years is not out of line to need replacing them.
