How to tackle rust .. w210

I have a few minor spots of rust in the undercarriage small area in the RF wheel well near the spring perch. I wanted to scrape off some of the under-coating, scrape off the surface rust with a wire wheel and spray it with some corrision prevention stuff (zinc chromate?), some primer and then new rubbe undercoating. I'm gonna be finally replacing the springs, doing the control arms and install those E55 springs....

Wanted some advise from the experts. Other than that the car is rust free, happy with that!

Don't just get the surface. Make sure the other side is good and that it hasn't spread under the paint.

I will grind it to the metal and know there is a chrome/silver looking paint that can be used as a corrosion protection so that the exposed metal does not rust again, etc...

Wire wheel it off, and then spray it with "cold galvinizing paint"... basicily a really zinc rich paint. Be warned on the price, we sell ours at around $8 a can

Then hit it up with some rubber undercoating

Thakns, that sounds like what I was looking for. I don't have many areas I would need it for.

Where can this sweetness product be purchased?

Autozone usualy has all the stuff. But any place like Home Depot should have good rust preventing paint.

POR works amazingly well too.

I've read about the POR in earlier threads. Is the POR good stuff to stop the rust in the hard to reach places where the wire wheel won't reach?

Yeah, if you can wire wheel it reall good you wont have a problem.

The SDL's jack points had some nice surface rust when I got it; wire wheeled it down to clean metal. Three coats of Rustoleum(sp?) black, and three years later still perfect!
